“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”
- Helen Keller
In the time it takes to blink an eye…
With the wink of a shutter a camera weaves its blend of science and magic to capture light through its mechanical innards and gadgetry. Accomplishing in its own primitive way what a human eye does constantly and effortlessly.
The beauty of a camera though, is that it can capture a moment. Freeze time in such a tangible way. A look, a smile, a play of light across soft skin, a melancholy shadow.
I love the way an image can be shared. How they can trigger a memory – in fact be so entwined with our memories. Snapshots of childhood. Ageing photos in the family album, pictures of lost loved ones, and black and white vistas that will never be played out again. A window to whole other worlds, a window to memory. A record of time.
